If your child has shown some interest in playing golf, devoting some time to junior golf lessons in Hertfordshire is a sure way to learn the basics and get them involved in something new. There’s no right or wrong age to pick up a golf club – Tiger Woods was 18 months old when he first got involved in the sport – but generally when children reach school age is an ideal time for them to begin formal tuition.
At our golf complex in Hemel Hempstead, we offer golf lessons for people of all ages, including juniors. Tuition can help youngsters in many ways, from protecting their body with proper technique to mastering their shot, all whilst making some new friends. Here we look at the benefits of junior golf tuition and the available options at Little Hay Golf Complex in Hertfordshire.
Technical expertise
We are lucky to have golf professional Chris Whitelegg based at Little Hay. Chris teaches 6-week beginner and intermediate junior golf programmes and is one of a small group of instructors in England who are authorised to teach the Golfing Machine method – this allows instructors to better analyse, diagnose and improve each student’s unique golf stroke. Previously, Chris was a junior county coach for several years and has extensive experience teaching special needs adults and children, and he ensures that golf lessons are always enjoyable.
Understanding the basics
Lessons at Little Hay are structured to help young golfers understand the theory of the sport alongside plenty of time to practise their strokes. In the first week of our beginner’s golf course, we look at the reasons why people play golf, and how to score each game. We cover the rules, etiquette, and basic movement for a good golf swing. In the following weeks we go over aiming correctly, stance, putting techniques, how to judge distance, and the chip shot. In the final lesson, everything your child has learnt will be pulled together for a session on our short course. The intermediate programme is designed to build on everything they have learnt and take their golfing skills to the next level.
Confidence boost
Each junior golfer will struggle with a different aspect of golf. Some may find it difficult to establish a solid stance, whilst others struggle to master their swing. When working with a professional, your child will receive tailored advice according to their needs and skills. Through investing in dedicated junior golf lessons at Little Hay in Hertfordshire, young golfers will learn proper techniques, boosting their confidence in the sport.
Protecting young minds and bodies
Golf benefits your child’s health through being active, but also through the many opportunities for socialising and making friends. Physically active children are more likely to be active adults, so it is important to instil healthy habits from a young age. Improper golf technique can damage your child’s body, causing discomfort in their back or wrist. By investing in golf tuition, their instructor will help them perfect their technique and protect their body from injury.
Facility benefits
Through golf tuition at Little Hay Golf Complex, young golfers will also gain full access to the other facilities offered. They can make use of the driving range to practice their swing in their own time, helping to develop muscle memory, which will assist in improving their overall game. There is both an 18- and 9-hole course on which they can develop their technique and practise what they have learnt in their lessons.
Dedicated golf tuition can be transformative for young golfers and help them to reach their full potential. Golf coaching from a professional will offer technical guidance, confidence boosters, and personalised advice. Through dedicated junior golf lessons in Hertfordshire with Chris Whitelegg, young golfers have access to expert instruction and top-class facilities, so they can truly master their game and make some new friends along the way.
